Vastu

According to Vaastu shastra, the entire universe exists in endless space and has no direction whatsoever.

However, on Earth our directions are defined with respect to the Sun, due to the existence of magnetic field. There are 4 cardinal (East, West, North & South) and 4 sub-cardinal (South East, North West, South West, North East). All these directions of the nature are fixed. These directions are governed by different deities. Researchers have proved that a biomagnetic field of the earth interacts with the bioenergetic field of a body. Therefore, wherever we live greatly influences our life. Since Vastu is a science, there is logic and reasoning behind every fact.

  • NORTH

North (Uttar) is ruled by the god of wealth, Kuber. The North is the direction of the Pole star, the fixed point in the sky that denotes stability and security. Kuber controls prosperity & wealth. Diti, Aditi, Sarp, Soma, Bhallat etc are the other deities in the North direction. This area in a house should be more airy and have more open space, there should be no blockages. The residents will be receive blessings of Lord Kuber and the house will witness lot of prosperity. On the other hand if there are blockages or if it is higher than the Southern part, people staying in the house will suffer from financial issues.

  • EAST (PURV)

East is ruled by the Sun or God Indra. The East, from where the Sun rises is treated as a very auspicious direction, as the maximum amount of Solar Energy is received from this direction. Solar energy is extremely important for the survival of human beings; therefore East should also be open and airy in a house. There should be no blockages in the house to avoid negativity. This direction is also related to Forefathers and parents and it is also a source of Male children in the house. Any blockages in this direction will cause troubles for the males of the house. Other gods that rule the East are Eesh, Jayant, Surya, Satya, Akash, Agni etc.

  • SOUTH (DAKSHIN)

South is the direction of Yama, the god of death. The South represents the past and our ancestry. Southern corner of the house should always be heavier and higher than the Northern part. No open space like gardens, Balconies, Terraces should be in this direction. South direction is also related to ladies, therefore if the construction in the Southern direction is as per the principles of vastu, ladies will be very comfortable in this house.

  • SOUTH-WEST (NAIRUTYA)

South West is the direction of Nairuti or dissolution, the Demon Goddess of Wealth or The Sthir Lakshmi. The most auspicious energy that is received from the North East is distributed in the entire house and then finally gets stored here. This is the direction where the owner should have his Master Bedroom, Wardrobes, Safe. SW should never be left open and airy to avoid issues related to the stability of the master of the house. The door in the SW invites all sorts of relationship, finance, health problems in ones life.

  • BRAHMASTHAN

Brahmasthan is a central and powerful zone of a property. All directions meet at the centre and disperse positive energy in all directions. This positive energy is very useful for living beings. Brahmasthan should be left open and should be free of obstructing objects. There should not be a beam/pillar/wall at the centre of a property. It is immensely important to keep centre non-obstructive and tidy to better inflow of energies.

  • NORTH-EAST (ESHAN)

North-East (Eshan) is considered to be the direction of the Supreme Being. Lord of the lords is the owner of this direction. The NE symbolizes almost everything that a man aspires for like health, growth, wealth, career enhancements etc. Therefore NE should be free of any clutter, beam, pillar, or toilet. More open space in the NE enhances the positive energy flow that is received from the NE point of a building. Moreover, the NE is the junction of Kuber and Indra, positive N & NE will benefit the health and finances of the master of the house. The NE should always be kept low and light in the house.

  • SOUTH-EAST (AGNEYA)

South East is the direction of Agni, the god of fire. This is the direction of health, vitality and energy. SE is Fire in Vastu, therefore any water body will cause a lot of health issues. Having a toilet in the SE will cause women related issues.

  • WEST (PASCHIM)

West is governed by the god of water, The Varuna. The West indicates name and fame. The West or Paschim opens doors of development for humans. Western part should be heavier in order to derive maximum benefits of the directions. Therefore, it is best to have bathrooms, toilets, staircases, store rooms here. Trees can be planted here. As per vastu if West is higher and heavy, it will result in favourable results for the residents. Having water tanks in this direction, will ensure success and prosperity. Other deities in this direction are Shesha, Varuna, Pushpelata, Sugriva etc.

  • NORTH-WEST (VAAYAVYA)

North West is the direction of the wind God, Vaayu. In Vaastu it is recommended that this direction should be used for toilets, garages, pantry etc. Vayu causes a lot of movement in one’s life, whether to turn this movement in your favour or against you completely depend on the vastu of this direction. If the NW is based on the principles of vastu, there will be mental peace and growth in business.

UNDERSTANDING VASTU

Vastu Shastra or Vastu Shilpa Shastra, the ancient mystic science and the art of designing and constructing buildings finds its origin in Stapatya Veda, which in turns is a part of Atharvana Veda, one of the four Vedas. Vastu is a Sanskrit word which means Vaas: Live Tu: you, a place where you live or dwell. Shastra means a text which contains knowledge or instructions. Simply put Vastu Shastra means instructions laid down for building a structure. Vastu Shastra is based on the importance of the 5 elements of nature (wind, water, earth, fire, space) and the 4 directions (East, West, North, South). Any structure which is not built in accordance with these elements or aligned with the 4 directions will sooner or later pose problems for its inmates. The interplay of nature acting through these elements and directions therefore forms the basis of Vastu.

5 ELEMENTS

There is an invisible and constant relation between all the five elements. Thus, the person can improve their conditions by properly designing their buildings by understanding the effectiveness of these five natural forces.

Vaastu sastra combines all the five elements of nature and balances them with the person and the material. It takes advantage of the benefits bestowed by the five elements of nature to create a congenial living and working environment thereby facilitating spiritual well-being and paving the way for enhanced health, wealth, prosperity and happiness.

EARTH (BHUMI)

Earth, the third planet in order from the sun, is a big magnet with North and South poles as
centers of attractions. Its magnetic field and gravitational force has considerable effects
on everything on the Earth, living and non-living.

AIR (VAYU)

As a life supporting element, air is a very powerful life source. Human physical comfort values are directly and sensitively dependent on correct humidity, air flow, temperature of air, air pressure, air composition and its content.

SPACE (AKASHA)

The akasha provides shelter to all the above elements. It is also considered the primary conductor of all energy sources within the universal context – physical energies such as sound and light, social energies such as psychological and emotional, and cognitive energies such as intellect and intuition.

WATER (JALA)

This is represented by rain, river, sea and is in the form of liquid, solid (ice) and gas (steam, cloud). It forms part of every plant and animal. Our blood is mostly water.

FIRE (AGNI)

Represents light and heat which account for day, night, the seasons, energy, enthusiasm, passion and vigour.

VASTU FOR OFFICE/SHOP

  • BUSINESS PREMISES

  • VASTU FOR HEALTH

Vaastu takes into account not only the way your house is constructed, but also several other aspects, such as health, astrology and numerology. Vastu of your house can impact your health directly. There are certain important points which should be considered while constructing your house as per the principles of Vastu:

Our life and environment are one. Therefore, wherever we live greatly influences our body. If we live in an environment that radiates ill health, then medicine alone cannot be of much help. This is also supported by research which states that most illnesses are psychosomatic.

    1. Vaastu links the health and illness with the placement of kitchen, toilets and bedrooms in inappropriate directions in our house. If the kitchen is not located in the fire zone, i.e. south-east the occupants are vulnerable to health disorders. Lighting a candle in the fire zone daily becomes as important for good health as sleeping with your head aligned towards the south.
    2. The center of the house, workplace as well as that of each and every room is very important as it is connected with health and is considered to be the heart of the house or workplace. This is the meeting point of all the energies from different directions. If you or any of your family members face health problems, check the Brahmasthan and observe certain precautions and particularly observe the vastu defects at house. Brahmasthan should not be depressed. Heavy objects, wells, lifts, stairs and toilets are totally prohibited in the Brahmasthan. If it is depressed or there is a pit or it is insanity amongst the inmates. A well in the Brahmasthan may lead to health problems for the house owner and affect the prosperity. You can have the living room / hall, in the Brahmasthan. It is essential to keep the central area or the Brahmasthan clear of all heavy concrete structures. Hang a beautiful crystal chandelier in the central area, preferably with five bulbs. Installation of a reike charged crystal grid in the Brahmasthan keeps the whole house energized.
    3. Having a toilet in the NE exhaust the positivity of the North East, therefore whatever positive energy is received from the Nrth, East and the NE is flushed away in the toilet, before it is distributed in the house. Lack of positivity and lack of solar energy enhances the risk of illness for the people staying in the house.
    4. Having a overhead tank in the North East also triggers a lot of health issues for the male members of the house.
    5. Avoid sleeping with head in the North: In fact only a dead body is kept with the head in the North and the feet pointing towards the South. The head represents the North pole of the body while the feet are the South pole of the body. When you sleep with your head to the North, these two positive polarities repel each other, disrupting the flow of blood and affecting your sleep and health. Hence one should never sleep with the head in the North. The positive energy that is received from the NE, North is excellent for your life but not good for sleep. If you sleep with your head in the North you might suffer from insomnia, lack of confidence etc.
    6. However, Vastu allows sleeping with the head in three directions. The effects of sleeping with the head in different directions is described below: Head in the East: East is the direction of knowledge and enlightenment. Sleeping with the head in the East increases knowledge and increases a liking for spiritualism. For this reason, children should always sleep with their head in the east. Head in the : Sleeping with one’s head in the West is good for people who do not permanently reside in the house, like guests and married daughters, in their parents’ house. However, head in the West should be avoided. Head in the South: South is the best direction for sleeping, as it is considered as the direction of dead. Therefore it is imperative to sleep like dead to rejuvenate and get up fresh the next day. Sleeping with one’s head in the South brings happiness and sound sleep and it also enhances ones confidence.
    7. Never put a mirror in front of bed, cover it while sleeping to avoid bad dreams. Avoid or minimize the usage of T.V or computer in bedrooms, as the energy level of the room will get destroyed by the radiation emitted.
    8. Pregnant ladies should not sleep in northeast room to avoid any miscarriage or abortion.
    9. Open or use north & eastern window much rather than southwestern windows for health happiness & harmony in the family.
    10. Never sleep on metal beds (wrought Iron) to avoid any health problem related to Heart & Brain.
    11. As per Vastu having a staircase at the exact center of the house would lead to health problems. Avoid keeping heavy furniture in the center. Ensure there are no overhead beams, pillars or wall through the center.
    12. Another major cause of concern could be defects in the East & South East directions. Never keep your shoe rack in the East as it will generate a lot of health issues.
    13. If your house faces South with a slope towards that directions, or if the heavy machinery or generator room is in the North-east, or the underground water tank is in South-east Agni, the health problems will increase. As a cure please keep the door closed always and have a heavy wooden door so that the view of the road is blocked. The boundary wall should be as high as the gate. Plants can be grown close to the gate.
    14. Having a lake or underground water sources can be a cause of fatal diseases in the house

VASTU FOR IMBALANCE & 5 ELEMENTS

IMBALANCE OF ELEMENTS

You’ve heard about the seven chakras – they’re your body’s inherent source of energy. Chakras stem from the root of the spine and go up to the crown of the head, these spheres of vibrational energy enable you to not only interact with the world but is also responsible for your health and wealth.

Chakras are our outlet to the outer world. Every moment we keep moving up and down with emotions, you can call it life condition. Good feeling is the result of the positivity within and without and the negative feeling is a byproduct of the darkness within ones own mid, body and aura. This movement of your chakra cycle, whether positive and negative is determined by the healthy energetic field surrounding your body.

An imbalance in a particular chakra can enable you to feel negative about life. As a result of this imbalance our chakras become weak and thus affect our spirituality, intuition, creativity, confidence level, your weight, your relationship, etc etc. As mentioned above negativity or an imbalance of the elements in our living environment disturbs our energy centres or chakras. We feel stressed and tense while our energies are dissipated in different directions. This negativety is enhanced when all the elements in our house or our office are not balanced.

Only when you recognize how the negative energy of your house is impacting your life can you begin to clear it. Here is an understanding of how 5 elements are responsible for a perfect balance in your life.

  • EARTH

This element is connected with survival and our grounding the Root Chakra. Balancing this element in our house would mean how secure and safe we feel in the world and how well we can balance trust versus mistrust, independence versus dependence, and standing alone versus belonging to groups. Imbalance of this element can be caused by a defect in the South-West direction. A water source in the South-West or corner which is cut off in the SW – can lead to a loss of control in your business, health or family.

  • AIR

This element is for feeling your true connection with the world, it is connected to the Heart Chakra that balances love and the Throat Chakra that governs our communication. An imbalance like a water source in the North-West, a depression in the North-West or the North-West direction becoming more elevated than the South-West can block the feelings of people towards you. You will be deprived of helpful people in your environment.

  • WATER

This element is for procreation or Sacral Chakra that balances creativity and sexuality. An imbalance of Water element would mean defect in the North or North East direction. If the North-East direction being cut-off – can restrict expansion plans in business (especially finances) as well as in the family. If there is a toilet in the NE, male members health will suffer, if there is a toilet in the NE ladies will have problems in conceiving.

  • FIRE

This element is for vision and fame, it is connected with Solar Plexus Chakra which governs personal power and will.. An imbalance such as depression in the South-East or existence of a water source in the same direction can hinder prosperity and bring a bad name to the business and family. It can also create legal conflict.

  • SPACE

This element is for internal strength. This element is connected with the Third Eye Chakra that governs our intuition and psychic abilities and to the Crown Chakra that governs our connection to Spirit and to the Creator. An imbalance like the centre of your establishment having a water source can cause you to lose your inner strength and your money. It is like an attack in our central nervous system.

FACING DIRECTIONS FOR VASTU

MAIN DOOR – YOUR GATEWAY TO SUCCESS!

The Main Entrance, needs a great attention as per Vastu. 50% of our total earth luck depends on main door, as it lets in the vital life-giving force that promotes health, wealth and luck. Our main door is also called the Energy door that determines the correct flow of vibrations experienced by the household. Here are some of the tips about main door:

  1. The door should open completely. There should be no obstruction like a shoe rack, dustbin or any thorny plant near the main door. If you do have a shoe rack, it will not allow the positive energy to enter, hence lack of opportunities and limited chance of growth.
  2. There should be no cracks on th emain door. Your main door should open in clock wise direction. Door opening in anti-clock direction causes delay in work, slow progress and difference of opinion among the family members.
  3. Avoid a blank wall as soon as you enter, if you do have one please hang a Swastik or keep a welcoming painting on the blank wall.
  4. The shadow of a tree or any light pole should not fall in door of the house.
